Crystal Formation Types and Their Meanings

Quartz crystal formations are the easiest to use in describing the various parts of crystal formations because of their relative size. Keep in mind that the same areas described in using the quartz crystal formations are present in other crystals such as amethyst, smoky quartz and other cluster types of crystal formations.

Types of Crystal Formations include:

Terminated Point

This describes the single-terminated crystal structure at the top or bottom of a crystal formation. It appears like a steeple, pencil point, or arrow. It is thought that a crystal formation with a terminated point will direct energy with focus.

It is for this reason that terminated crystal formations are coveted for intentions and moon manifestations. There are double-pointed crystals which are known as double-terminated crystals. The double-terminated crystal is believed to send and receive energy simultaneously. It is believed that it can both receive good energy and dispel bad.

Double-terminated quartz crystals are coveted energy sources in the world of crystals. The Double Terminated crystal is also useful when there are conflicts with two points of view, by presenting a balance of opposing energies.

Twin Pointed Crystals

Among the types of crystal, formations are the twin crystal points. Like co-joined twins, the crystal point comes to a double head yet keeps a connection between the two by a part of the crystal known as the facet. They are often called companion crystals not because they are bonded crystals but because of the type of crystal formation that they stand for.

The Twin Crystals are thought to be balancing crystals, joining together two crystal points to form a whole similar to yin and yang or male and female. These twin crystals are known as portals between the physical and spiritual realms which promote unity via a divine energy connection.

Cluster Crystals

Among the many types of crystal formations, this is a common and powerful one of many types of healing crystals. It is a common formation in amethyst, rose quartz, and milky quartz. Cluster Crystals as the name implies look like many points emitting from the same base.

With a structured yet chaotic look, the Cluster Crystal formation is noted as a teacher of harmony and seen as promoting cooperation through shared goals. Often used by groups for meditation and other ceremonies and classes.

Cluster Crystals are thought to be symbolic of the universal soul, and the concept of one God equals one energy. Smaller crystals are very available, larger ones coveted by collectors and spiritualists for group sessions.

Geode

Known novices as well as experts, the geode is especially mysterious as it is a hollow rock that when cracked open reveals the wonders of crystals. Inside the hollow rock, Geode is a world of crystal formations waiting for discovery. Key Crystals

The key-shaped crystal formation is a hexagonal or angular-shaped recess, usually on the side facets of a crystal and near the base. Components of crystals in this system are located by reference to four axes; three of equal length set at 120 degrees to one another and a fourth which is at right angles to the plane of the others. These crystals’ purposes are to restore and rebuild lost energy.

Rainbow crystals are those that contain inclusions that show a rainbow reflection when viewed from a certain angle or through certain light. Phantom Crystals

A phantom crystal is a type of crystal that contains inclusions of other minerals, which give it a shadowy, phantom, or ghost-like appearance. These types of crystals are said to represent your past, present, and future self, and they facilitate growth and transformation.

Isis Face Crystals

These crystals have a five-sided face with a tall point at the top. Tower Crystals

Bridge Crystals

Bridge crystals have at least one smaller crystal sticking out of them and penetrating the main body of the crystal. Elestial crystals have multiple points growing from the same main body. They act as a window into the spirit world, connecting our physical bodies, minds, and souls to the universe and activating our third eye chakra. They’re excellent stones for meditation, lucid dreaming, and astral travel.

Aggregator Crystals

Also known as barnacle crystals, aggregator crystals are large crystals that are partially or totally covered in smaller crystals. They’re like old souls caring for younger ones; and they’re perfect for gathering new ideas, people, and opportunities.
